The Flower Festival takes place every spring when the flowers are at their best. There are parades through the streets of Funchal in traditional costumes accompanied with music and dancing, flower carpets in the streets, prizes for the best-decorated shop window, performances of traditional music, a flower exhibition, classical music concerts and variety shows. A new addition in recent years has been the so-called ‘Wall of Hope’ – a wall where children place their flowers symbolising the hope for a better and more peaceful world.

Thursday 9 May 2013 from £599 for 5 nights

Departing Thursday 9 May 2013 for 5 nights from London Gatwick (other airports available). Your holiday price includes accommodation at one of our specially selected hotels on bed and breakfast basis. Your holiday also includes visits to the Flower Festival on Saturday and Sunday and guided tour of the Botanical Gardens

Monday 6 May 2013 from £799 for 7 nights

7 night holidays also include a full day tour of Madeira, a Madeira wine tasting, a visit to a garden or orchid farm. In addition there are optional full/ half day levada walks and Madeira tours.

Prices depend on your choice of hotel. Quinta Penha da Franca from £799 or Quinta Bela Sao Tiago from £849.

Prices are per person based on two people sharing a room.
